Lorenzo Musetti has joined the long list of persons who have praised Carlos Alcaraz, by proclaiming Carlos Alcaraz the king after his Wimbledon victory.
Since 2022, Alcaraz has advanced significantly in the sport. He began the year with a World No. 32 ranking and only one career victory; by the end, he had won five titles, including his first Grand Slam at the US Open.
According to Italian World No. 18 Musetti, Alcaraz has improved greatly over the past few months and he also referred to him as a friend and an inspiration.
In a recent interview, Mosetti expressed his views about Carlos Alcaraz: “In one year he has made incredible progress in terms of tennis, but also physically and in his awareness of his own means. Today [he] is the reference, the player to beat.”
Mosetti further added remarks about Alcaraz: “He is the King Midas of tennis: what he touches turns to gold. He is both a friend and a source of inspiration. Having beaten him is a boast, but also an additional motivation to do it again.”

Currently the world no.1, Carlos played his last match on the 16th of July when he beat world no.2 Novak Djokovic 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 in the final in Wimbledon to win his 12th career title.
At present, during this year Carlos owns a compiled 47-4 record. Alcaraz clinched 6 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Wimbledon. Carlos got to the final in Rio de Janeiro.
He is also scheduled to play in Cincinnati (Western & Southern Open) on the 13th of August and U.S. Open (U.S. Open) on the 28th of August.

Now ranked no.18, the Italian played his last match on the 28th of July when he lost to world no.38 Laslo Djere 7-5 6-3 in the quarter in Hamburg (draw).
At present, during this year Lorenzo has a composed 26-18 win-loss record. Lorenzo Musetti’s most significant result of this year was reaching the final in Australia.
Musetti will compete next in Toronto (National Bank Open). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 7th of August.
Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti squared off 3 times. Their current record is 2-1 for Alcaraz. Previously, the last time they fought against each other, Carlos Alcaraz won 6-3 6-2 6-2 in the 4th round in Paris (French Open) on the 4th of June 2023.
