Mohamed Lahyani, a tennis umpire, had to request a medical pause due to a rare injury he sustained at the Hamburg Open. As Lahyani got out of his chair to investigate a ball mark, he appeared to hurt the area of his leg just above his right ankle.

The Hamburg Open victory of Alexander Zverev was briefly put on hold while the umpire needed medical attention for an injury. Zverev was leading the first set against the strong Laslo Djere of Serbia when the event happened. Swedish umpire Mohamed Lahyani requested a medical interruption for his own issue in strange tennis circumstances that are rarely seen.

During matches, players often require medical timeouts. It is relatively unlikely for umpires to stop playing because of a restroom break, even if permitted during long matches.
