Fantastic news for the tennis fans in London since Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger Aliassime, and Frances Tiafoe confirmed their participation to the Fever-Tree Championships at the Queen’s Club.
Felix Auger Aliassime on grass
The 18-year-old is having a fantastic run in 2019 after he reached the final at the ATP500 in Rio de Janeiro and he is currently in the semifinal of the prestigious Master ATP1000 in Miami. This will be the first time that Felix will play on grass with the “big boys” (he competed only as a junior). Last year the Canadian decided to skip the grass stint to focus on clay entirely.
About his participation to the Fever-Tree Championships, Felix commented: “There is no better way to prepare for Wimbledon.”
Denis Shapovalov on grass
The Canadian won the Wimbledon Junior singles back in 2016 as grass is a surface that particularly suitable for his tennis. However, Denis had a surprisingly poor run during last season on grass after he lost in the 1st round in Stuttgart and at the Queens’ Club, and in the 2nd match in Eastbourne and Wimbledon.
Stephen Farrow, the tournament director, commented, “Denis had a great run at the Queen’s Club a couple of years ago, and he told me at the time that I should watch out for his good friend Felix because he is an incredible talent.”
Frances Tiafoe on grass
The American reached the quarters last year at the Queen’s Club and the 3rd round in London.
The defending champion of the Fever-Tree Championships is Marin Cilic, and the event will kick-start the 17th of June.
