Recently Coco Gauff hired Brad Gilbert to help her overcome her forehand problem. Tennis veteran Gilbert, a former American player, was spotted helping WTA standout Coco Gauff. He is one of the sport’s most well-known figures.
Gilbert, who currently works as a tennis analyst, has previously collaborated with former ATP number ones like Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi, and Andy Murray.
Gauff talked to a presser and stated his remarks about the addition of Gilbert as part of his coaching team. She said: “Yeah, it’s something that I’m literally just starting. And, you know, I’m really open to learning from the game and learning from people and getting different perspectives, so I think that it will help me.”
She further explained: “Yeah, I think having someone with a little bit more experience will help me like for the pressure moments, the semifinals, finals, quarterfinals. Those moments that I still think I need to get better at.”
Gauff won one tournament this year, at Auckland during the first week of 2023. She hasn’t reached another final since, and she has repeatedly lost in the quarterfinal and semifinal stages. Gauff is confident that Gilbert’s assistance will benefit her in stressful situations.
