MIAMI OPEN. Roger Federer is about to face Kevin Anderson for a place in the semifinal in Miami.

The world no.5 is having a good run in Florida. In fact, after an awkward opening match against Radu Albot when he won in 3 sets, the Swiss sensation had 2 convincing straight-sets wins against Filip Krajinovic (7-5 6-3)

and Daniil Medvedev (6-4 6-2).

Roger will face Kevin Anderson in the quarters. Even if Federer has a solid 5-1 head to head record against the South African, the 37-year-old had a rather unpleasant experience last year against Kevin when he lost a 5-setter in Wimbledon after he was 2 sets-up.

How Federer will play against Anderson

Talking about his plans against Anderson, during the press conference following his win against Daniil Medvedev, Roger stressed about the mentality he is going to have in his next match

“I think it is going to be a bit tricky [agasint Anderson]. He has got a great serve so you go back to big-serve mentality to try to hold your service game first before thinking how to break Kevin.

I had a tough one against him in Wimbledon when I lost. I was able to come back and play against him a good match in London when I really had to in that round-robin match.

But I am feeling really good. I can be really happy with today’s match. So I hope that will give me some confidence for tomorrow.”

Head to head Roger Federer vs. Kevin Anderson

This will be the 7th time that Roger and Kevin play each other. The head to head is 5-1 for Federer that besides that match in Wimbledon he has never conceded a single set to the South African.
