At 18-year-old, Felix Auger Aliassime is the “teenager of the moment.”

The young Canadian was used to hit the headlines for being the youngest player to achieve this or that, and he was expected to have a great career at pro level. However, you’ll never know how the big leap from juniors to pro will be handled since we have many examples of players that were great during their very early days to struggle against the “big boys.”

Currently ranked no.57, Felix is having an outstanding 2019. He impressed at the ATP500 in Rio de Janeiro where he reached the final after beating 2 clay court specialists such as Fabio Fognini and Pablo Cuevas, and he is now having a fantastic campaign at the Miami open where he reached the quarters after winning 6 matches since he had to start from the qualifications.

How Auger Aliassime deals with the pressure

During the press conference that followed his win against Nikoloz Basilashvili, the Canadian elaborated on how he manages the pressure to reveal

“I have been dealing with this for the past couple of years, so I think in a way that’s why I am able now to have this kind of results.

Because this extra pressure, this attention that I gave maybe last year or the year before to the outcomes, to the media, that’s a bit behind me now where I’m able really to stay in the present and really focus on what I have to do in the court, finding ways to win.

That just keeps me going and just keeps me happy.”

Felix will face Borna Coric in the quarters of the Miami Open. Even if his rank is lower than Borna’s (57 vs. 13) and there is no head to head record, he may be the favorite to reach the final 4.

The sky is the limit.
