Denis Shapovalov and Auger Aliassime

Felix Auger Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, and Bianca Andreescu are the pride of the tennis fans in Canada.

All of them are achieving fantastic results on tour even if they are still teenagers. The “oldest” of this group is Shapovalov (19) while both Andreescu and Auger Aliassime are just 18.

Denis was the first one to hit the headlines after he reached the semifinal at the Rogers Cup back in 2017 when he was just 17 after defeating the likes of Juan Martin Del Potro and Rafael Nadal. In the meantime, Felix and Bianca were blossoming in the “lower competitions” until early this year when Auger Aliassime reached the final at the ATP500 in Rio de Janeiro and Bianca won the title in Indian Wells.

Another nice trait of this young group is that they are in fantastic terms. It was “cute” to know that the night before playing Nadal at the Rogers Cup in 2017, Shapovalov went to sleep in Felix’ house to get ready in a friendly environment.

In addition, during a recent interview, Felix revealed

“We always look out of the corner of the eye what others are doing. I motivate myself to watch them. It does not detract me personally when they have good results, but for sure I would sometimes like to be already in their shoes. It touches my ego positively.”

In another interview, Felix admitted that he couldn’t stay still for the excitement and the tension while watching Bianca playing and winning the Indian Wells final.

The future of tennis in Canada looks really bright!
