Simona Halep 2 wins away from reclaiming world no.1 rank from Naomi Osaka

The Romanian can still lead the top of the rankings

Simona Halep is extremely close to reclaiming the world no.1 rank from Naomi Osaka.

How Halep can be back to world no.1

At the beginning of this Miami Open, there were 4 players that had the chance to dethrone Naomi Osaka. However, after the early demise of Elina Svitolina, Angelique Kerber, Petra Kvitova, and following Osaka’s defeat in the 4th round, Simona Halep is the only one to have the chance to be back to world no.1.

Simona will be back at the top of the rankings if she reaches the final at the Miami Open. That means that the Romanian needs to beat the world no.18 Qiang Wang in the quarters and then either Karolina Pliskova (no.5) or Marketa Vondrousova (no.50) in the semifinal to be the new world no.1 after the Miami Open.

Can she make it?
