Navratilova splits with Radwanska

Martina Navratilova was the last in line to join the “celebrity coaches” army. Some “celebs” had a great run as a coach (Lendl, Edberg and Becker are probably guys with the  brightest results), some others didn’t have much joy (Connors lasted just 1 match with Maria Sharapova).

In December Martina Navratilova joined Agnieszka Radawnska to give her experience to the Pole (see article), but the results have not been the best. Agnieszka’s ranking went south (now she is no.9) and her 2015 win/loss record is rather grim (12-8).

Navratilova: I underestimated the commitment

Martina commented “I am stepping down as Agnieszka’s part-time coach. I think I underestimated the time it would take to make this a good and proper situation for both Agnieszka and me,”

Radwanska

The Pole confirmed that the split came after a friendly discussion “I just wanted to thank Martina for her time and efforts over these last few months. It was a great experience to work with one of the all time greats. However we both agreed that as Martina could not commit 100 percent to the project then it was not going to work as a long term partnership. We will stay friends and I wish her all the best in her personal and professional life.”
