Simona Halep was born the 27th of September 1991 in Constantia (Romania) to Stere and Tania Halep. She got the inspiration to play tennis from the older brother Nicola, and she started to practice the sport when she was just 4. Her childhood idols were Justine Henin and Andrei Pavel.
Simona began to practice regularly when she was 6, and she moved to Bucharest when she was 16.
Simona Halep’s Breast reduction surgery
Simona underwent a breast reduction surgery in 2009 with the aim of moving better during the matches. The Romanian commented that this was the most significant sacrifice she made for tennis.
Halep turned pro in 2006, she first broke into the world’s top 50 at the end of 2012, reached the top 20 in August 2013, and finally, the top 10 in January 2014. Simona won her first career title in Nurnberg in 2013 after she defeated Andrea Petkovic 6-3 6-3. The Romanian become world no.1 for the first time the 9th October 2017 and she conquered her first slam in 2018 at the French Open.
Simona Halep’s boyfriend
Simona is fully committed to her tennis career. However, Halep has been linked to the Romanian tennis player Horia Tecau and she was spotted in Portofino with Radu Barbu.
