Petra Kvitova

Petra Kvitova was born in Bilovec (Czech Republic) the 8th of March 1990 to Jiri Kvita, a school teacher, and Pavla Kvitova. She has 2 elder brothers named Jiri (an engineer) and Libor (a school teacher). Like many other tennis players in the Czech Republic, she was a big fan of Martina Navratilova. Petra trained in Fulnek until the age of 16.

Petra Kvitova key moments in tennis

Petra won her maiden title in Hobart when she was 18 (2009), and her biggest achievement was winning Wimbledon on 2 occasions in 2011 (d. Maria Sharapova)  and 2014 (d. Genie Bouchard). Later Petra was the runner-up at the Australian Open where she lost to Naomi Osaka in the final.

A key and sad moment of Petra’s life was when the 20th of December 2016 she was robbed at her home by a knife-wielding attacker, which resulted in tendon and nerve injuries to her left hand. Being left-handed, initially there where doubts that Petra could go back on tour. However, she recovered pretty quickly to be back to competitions the following May in occasion of the Roland Garros.

Petra Kvitova’s boyfriend and who she dated

Petra was linked to Czech tennis player Adam Pavlasek (2011 – 2013). Later she dated Radek Stepanek (2013-2014). In December 2015 Petra announcement an official engagement with Czech hockey player Radek Meidl, but they split after few months.

Currently, there are no other reports of Petra dating anyone on a stable basis.

Petra’s historical coach used to be David Kotyza (2008 – 2016), then for a short period Frantisek Cermak (2016), and now Jiri Vanek.
