Kerber wins the title in Charleston

Great news from Angelique Kerber that has managed to win her first title of the season (4th in her career) after beating a rough Madison Keys in the final.

The German staged an incredible comeback recovering a tough 1-4 deficit in the decider to finally win 6-2 4-6 7-5. Match Stats.

Kerber: It’s just been a great week

Angelique was visibly happy for this result “It’s unbelievable. To win here after the really difficult weeks I had, I’m feeling great. Last year I had four finals and I didn’t win any of them, so it’s great that I actually won this one today.

It’s just been a great week for me here. Everybody is so nice, and I’m really happy about my game.”

After this week Kerber will be ranked no.14, Madison Keys no. 17 (career high).
