Naomi Osaka didn’t have a fantastic experience at this Miami Open after she lost against the talented Su-Wei Hsieh. The Japanese had already many problems against the Taiwanese last time that they played at the Australian Open when Naomi had to recover from a desperate 5-7 1-4 scoreline. Osaka didn’t find the solution in Miami where she lost 4-6 7-6 (4) 6-3 after she was leading 6-4 5-3.
The key mistakes from Osaka
During the press conference following her defeat, Naomi commented
“I think I got too emotional. It’s just something that I did during the last match too. I am not sure why this is happening, but it’s kind of unusual for me. I think at that moment I got ahead of myself.
I was a kind of immature today because I was thinking that everything was on my racket. She has the ability to make winners too whenever she wants. So I think that was like one of the main problems. I don’t think that I underestimated her, but maybe today I overestimate myself.”
That’s a very mature assessment of her defeat. More wins to come.
Naomi definitly need a good psy to help her get stronger mentally on the court. I think she has difficulty to assume her role as #1 of women tennis.
