Miami Open. Federer survives Albot in 3 sets

Roger had to use all his experience to edge the Moldovian at the Miami Open

Roger Federer in Miami

Tricky stuff from Roger Federer at the Miami Open that had to work hard to beat the world 46 Radu Albot from Moldovia in 3 sets.

The match

The contest was heavily influenced by the very first game when Roger dropped his serve. The Swiss failed to break back in the following game after he had 4 opportunities (3 of them from a 0-40 scoreline). Federer didn’t have any other breakpoint for the rest of the set, and he found himself trailing from 1-set down.

The second was extremely tense. Federer saved a break point on a 3-all scoreline and Albot did the same in the following game. Eventually, Federer found the solution during the crunch time to finally break his opponent in the 12th game (7-5) and bring the affair to the decider.

In the 3rd set, Federer conceded just 1 point in the first 3 service games while the Moldovian was constantly struggling on serve. However, the Swiss had a shaky moment in the 7th game when he held his serve after saving a break point. Eventually, it was Albot to blink in the following game and Federer didn’t miss the chance to break before winning the match 4-6 7-5 6-3.
