Djokovic, Nadal unlucky. Federer OK in Monte-Carlo

The Master ATP1000 is about to start in Monte-Carlo and Djokovic and Nadal should not be happy with their draw.

Djokovic

Seeded no.1 the Serbian should play immediately against clay court specialist Nicolas Almagro. The Spaniard is recovering from an injury, but he still can be a tough customer at the beginning of the tournament. Nole was also unlucky to get Nadal in his half to expect a tough semifinal.

Projected matches
1st Bye
2nd Almagro
3rdGulbis
Q Cilic/Tsonga
S Nadal

Nadal
Rafa s still struggling to find his best tennis this year, but he is now back to a tournament that he has already won 8 times, so he will be definitely set for something good.

Seeded no.3 Rafa may play Thiem in the first match, then he may face Isner (Rafa had a bad experience against him few years ago at the French Open) and then Ferrer (David is not scared of Rafa any more). The Spaniard should face Djokovic in the semifinal.

Projected matches
1st Bye
2nd Thiem

3rd Isner
Q Ferrer
S Djokovic

Federer

King Roger had a good draw, even if he has to face a couple of players that have recently defeated him on the dirt. The seed no.2 should play Chardy in the first match (the Frenchman defeated Roger last year in Rome after saving a match point with an incredible shot). Then Roger should face Monfils in the third round and he may have the re-match of last year’s final against Wawrinka in the quarters. Roger shouldn’t have the roughest semifinal as he is expected to face either Berdych or Raonic in the final 4.

Projected matches
1st Bye
2nd Chardy
3rd Monfils
Q Wawrinka
S Berdych/Raonic

Our favourite for the title
We go for Djokovic. The Serbian is in great shape. The only question mark is if he is too tired after winning Indian Wells and Miami. Federer probably next in line.
