Amanda Anisimova roaring at the Miami Open

17-year-old Amanda Anisimova had high hopes for a good run at the Miami Open, but unfortunately she crashed out as early as in the 2nd round.

Ranked no.73, Amanda was opposed to the world no.19 Anett Kontaveit. However, even if there was a big gap in the rankings, Anisimova was expected to have a shot at the 3rd round.

Eventually, the American lost 6-3 1-6 6-4 after being dominant in all sets. In the first set, Amanda was leading 3-1 before losing 5 consecutive games and drop the first set (3-6).

Later, Anisimova imposed her superior tennis to win the second set 6-1. Amanda missed a big opportunity in the decider after she wasn’t able to convert 2 break points when she was leading 3-1. Eventually, she dropped 5 of the following 6 games before losing the match 6-3 1-6 6-4 scoring the same amount of points of her opponent (106).
