Miami Open: Felix Auger Aliassime and Bianca Andreescu to the 2nd round.

Both Canadians reach the 2nd round after winning their matches in 3 sets.

Canadian teenagers Felix Auger Aliassime and Bianca Andreescu advance to the Miami Open 2nd round.

Auger Aliassime

Felix had to access the main draw after going through the qualifications when he defeated Luca Vanni 4-6 6-4 6-1 and Paolo Lorenzi 7-6 (1) 6-2. There was not much time to rest for the Canadian that he had to face the world no.98 Casper Ruud immediately after qualifying. After a 3 set battle, Felix won 3-6 6-2 6-1.

In the second round, Auger Aliassime will play the world no. 36 Marton Fucsovic. The head to head is 1-0 for Fucsovic that has beaten the Canadian in the 1st round in Vienna 1-6 6-0 7-5 in 2018.

Andreescu

Bianca had to face for the second consecutive tournament Irina Begu in the first round. The storyline was very similar to the one Bianca and Irina had in Indian Wells. In fact, also in Miami, the Canadian won the match after recovering from a 1-set deficit (4-6 7-6 6-2).

Bianca will play Sofia Kenin in the second round. The head to head is 1-0 for the American that has defeated Bianca in the Acapulco semifinal last February 6-4 3-6 7-5.
