18-year-old Felix Auger Aliassime is rising faster and faster.
The young Canadian impressed the tennis world after he reached the final in Rio de Janeiro back in February and he upset Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Indian Wells 2nd round.
Currently ranked no.57, Felix had to start his run at this edition of the Miami Open starting from the qualifications. Eventually, he made it to the main draw after beating 2 Italians: Luca Vanni 4-6 6-4 6-1 and Paolo Lorenzi 7-6 (1) 6-2.
I deserve to play in the Miami Open main draw. AUGER ALIASSIME
Talking to the ATP Radio, Felix commented
“I’m happy with the work I’ve done in the qualies. My main objective coming here was to qualify because I strongly believe I deserve my place.
I’m still a young player, so I’m used to it. Obviously, I’ve been awarded a few wild cards during my young career, but there are also times you have to do the hard work to qualify, and I think that’s just fair because I have to play my ranking. But I think I proved again that I deserve my place.”
Head to head Felix Aliassime vs. Casper Ruud
Feliz will play the world no.98 Casper Ruud in the 1st round on Thursday. There is no head to head record since they have never played each other so far.
