Amanda was born the 31st August 2001 in the Freehold Township in New Jersey to Olga Anisimova and Konstantin Anisimov, and she has an older sister named Maria. Their parents emigrated from Russia to the USA a few years before Amanda was born to give better opportunities to their children. None of them has played competitive tennis.

Why Anisimova started to play tennis

According to Amanda, she picked up the sport after seeing her sister playing tennis. Her parents saw the opportunity, and they all moved to Florida to have more chances to play with various coaches. This was a typical move for aspiring tennis players in the US (Osaka is one of the most striking and recent examples). Her parents were heavily involved in the training activity with her father being the primary coach. The young American managed to partner with top coaches such as Nick Saviano that has mentored Genie Bouchard and Sloane Stephens

Anisimova’s Early career

Anisimova was the world no.2 in the ITF junior rankings, and she started to hit the headlines in 2018 after he reached the 4th round in Indian Wells at only 16 years of age after defeating Petra Kvitova in the 3rd round.

Amanda had a stunning run in Hiroshima later in 2018 since she reached the final starting the competition from the qualification and winning 7 matches before losing to Su-Wei Hsieh. After this run in Japan, Anisimova finally broke in the top100.
