Serena
Williams‘ comeback in Indian Wells has been one of the best moments of the
season. The American decided to come back to “Indy” after 14 years to face one
of her worst nightmares. Back in 2001 Serena won the title in Indian Wells with
some spectators being hugely hostile against her and her family. Unfortunately
that day was also full of racist remarks.
Serena finally decided to go back to Indian
Wells to have a fantastic reception. Eventually the world no.1 won that match
(7-5 7-5 against Niculescu).
Serena was so happy about coming back to
post on Twitter
“Winning is not always about holding up a trophy. Sometimes you have to face your biggest nightmares head first, and conquer them. For the first time I don’t need a trophy… because I have already won.”
