Sometimes you see bad things happening on the tennis courts, but to be honest this was really bad.
What happened
Rising star Zhu Lin won the second set against Francesca Schiavone after she failed to recover a drop shot. Even if it was clear that the Chinese lost that point, the umpire awarded the set to Zhu. Francesca was in disbelieve for the fact that the umpire didn’t see what has happened, but things got worse when the Italian asked the umpire to double check with Zhu. Incredibly enough the Chinese just shut up to steal the point and the set.
“This is going to TV,” said Schiavone adding “It’s not good to lie; you’re 18 years old!” (see video at 53rd minute).
At least we are happy that not all youngsters are like this. Probably Miss Zhu should go and have some sportsmanship lessons from Na Li. The language may help.
