About the Hopman Cup

The Hopman Cup is an international hardcourt tennis competition featuring eight mixed-gender teams that compete against one. From 1989 to 2019, it was held annually in Perth, Western Australia. The now-defunct ATP Cup took its place on the calendar in 2020. The completion will now be held in Nice and it will feature 6 teams.

The format

Every country in a pairing competes in a men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles match, with the winner receiving one point. Both singles and mixed doubles matches are best-of-three sets contests, with the third set to be played as a super tie-break. The top team from each group competes against each other in the championship game.
