After a year and a half, the tennis fans had the chances to see another chapter of the fantastic rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal after both tennis legends managed to qualify for the semifinal in Indian Wells.
To add some spice to this possible clash, both Roger and Rafa reached the final 4 after conceding no sets to their opponents.
However, Federer and Nadal got to this appointment in a completely different state. While on one hand, Roger is extremely fresh after spending not so much time on court, on the other Rafa got injured to his right knee when playing Khachanov in the quarterfinal.
Why Nadal may not play against Federer
Soon after his match against Khachanov, Rafa didn’t sound very optimistic to say
“Hopefully I am going to be ready for it. I am going to try my best to recover well and to be ready to enjoy one of these matches that I want to play against probably my biggest rival and at a later stage of our career.
For me, it would be great to compete on my 100% tomorrow.
Let’s dream of having a proper clash between these titans at their very best.
Nadal says he hopes to play against Federer on Saturday but recognizes that his knee issues could prevent it. Says he cannot predict how he will feel when he wakes up tomorrow
