Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are scheduled to clash on Saturday in the Indian Wells
semifinal. Roger and Rafa are meant to play as the second semifinal after Dominic Thiem and Milos Raonic.Federer
Roger is in supreme form. He has a 12-1 win-loss record in 2019, and he is on a 9-matches winning streak (he won the last 15 sets). Roger reached the semifinal in Indian Wells after beating Peter Gojowczyk 6-1 7-5, Stan Wawrinka 6-3 6-4, Kyle Edmund 6-1 6-4, and Hubert Hurkacz 6-4 6-4. This will be Roger’s 12th semifinal Indian Wells where he won the title already on 5 occasions (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2017).
Nadal
Rafa also has a fantastic record in 2019 (11-2). However, the Spaniard is still trying to win his first title of the season. Nadal got to the semifinal in Indian Wells without dropping a single set after beating Jared Donaldson 6-1 6-1, Diego Schwartzman 6-3 6-1, Filip Krajinovic 6-3 6-4 and Karen Khachanov 7-6 (2) 7-6 (2).
Unfortunately, the Spanish legend got injured to his right knee during his last match and he is doubtful about even competing in the semifinal.
H2H Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal
This will be the 39th time that Roger and Rafa will play each other. The head to head is 23-15 for the Spaniard, but Roger won the last 5 matches. The Swiss is the favorite to reach the final not only because of his brilliant tennis but also because Rafa is not expected to be at his 100%.
