Fantastic stuff for Roger Federer as he reaches his 12th semifinal in Indian Wells without dropping a single set for the entire tournament after he dismissed Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets.
The match
Once again Roger was “scarily practical” in his performance to secure the win after breaking his opponent just once per set without ever dropping his serve.
After 4 consecutive and easy holds, Federer won the decisive break in the 1 set in the 5th game (3-2) before winning the opener 6-4.
A similar story unfolded in the 2nd set with the world no.4 winning the decisive break in the 3rd game (2-1). However, contrary to the 1st set, Roger had to save a couple of break points in the 6th and 10th game before winning the encounter 6-4 6-4 in 73 minutes.
Head to head Roger Federer vs. Nadal
Roger is scheduled to play Rafael Nadal in the semifinal. The head to head is 23-15 for the Spaniard, but Roger has won the last 5 matches, and Nadal got injured during the semifinal against Khachanov. For these reasons, the Swiss is widely expected to reach the final.
