Mirra Andreeva lost a very tough battle against Madison Keys after leading quite comfortably 6-3 4-1. The young Russian player was extremely nervous and she had to fight her nerves during the match. After getting a warning for throwing a rocket, the talented Russian player got a penalty point in the third set when the rocket seemingly got away from her hand.
Mirra commented: “I don’t know which decision was right, but she’s the umpire & the 1 who makes the decision. I didn’t have any intention to throw it. I slid & thought I’d fall forward. Maybe it looked like I threw it, I don’t know. I didn’t see a video yet.”
Mirra Andreeva got a point penalty that gave match point to Keys
She plead with the umpire that she fell & slipped.
Looking at this, she clearly lost her footing.
She released the racquet, but I think the umpire could’ve let this one slide
Sad ending.
