Teen phenomenon Mirra Andreeva aggressively punched herself out of fury before sobbing uncontrollably. On her Wimbledon debut, she advanced to the fourth round with a stunning 6-2, 7-5 victory over fellow countrywoman Anastasia Potapova.
Andreeva vented her rage on her own thigh as she made her way back to the chair behind 5-4 in the second set after failing to break Potapova’s serve despite seven break points at 4-4. The teen repeatedly hit herself out of frustration because she had already come back from a 4-1 deficit but still could not obtain the break.
Nonetheless, she was able to make crucial progress in Potapova’s subsequent service game. Eventually, Mirra maintained her composure throughout to serve out the win.
