Naomi Osaka to stay world no.1 after Indian Wells

The Japanese will remain at the top of the rankings after Simona Halep's defeat in the 4th round

Great news for Naomi Osaka and her fans as the Japanese will definitely stay world no.1 after Indian Wells.

At the beginning of the tournament, Naomi had to battle against 4 other competitors to retain the top spot of the rankings as Petra Kvitova, Simona Halep, Sloane Stephens, and Karolina Pliskova had a shot at becoming the new world no.1.

However, Kvitova and Stephens crashed out in the opening match. Pliskova had to win the tournament and hope that Osaka would crash out early in the tournament (that didn’t happen). The last in line was Simona Halep, but the Romanian had to win the event to have a shot at the world no.1, but eventually she lost in the 4th round.

Osaka is about to play against Belinda Bencic the 4th round. Whatever happens, she will stay no.1.
