Djokovic warns hostile Wimbledon fans before facing Wawrinka: “The more they cheer against me, the better for me.”

Novak Djokovic, despite winning Wimbledon seven times, struggles with local crowds, but finds motivation to silence opposition.

Even if Novak Djokovic has won Wimbledon on seven occasions, he does not have a fantastic relationship with the local crowd. Nevertheless, the Serbian legend has shown plenty of times that if the crowd is against him, he finds extra motivation to silence it.

During a recent interview with Tennis Majors, Novak revealed: “They are doing me a favor. The more they cheer against me, the better for me. They wake something in me that they perhaps don’t want to see – a winner.”

Then Djokovic admitted that he prefers it if the crowd is with him: “As a player, you want to have the majority of the crowd on your side. My wish is not to play in a hostile atmosphere. It turns out, though, that the crowd supports my opponent in most of the matches in my career.”
