Paula Badosa didn’t have a fantastic day on Friday when she had to retire mid-match when facing Marta Kostyuk in the Wimbledon 2nd round because of a lower back injury. Later, the Spanish player announced that she had to retire also from mixed doubles with her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas.
“For your information, I just lost.”
Things got pretty weird for Paula Duty at the following press conference when a rather unprofessional journalist congratulated her for the win. She replied that she lost. Not happy, the disconnected reporter asked her about the level of confidence that she attained after the match. For a second time, Paula had to remind the journalist that she lost and didn’t win.

This was a weird exchange.
Q. Congrats for your win.
PAULA BADOSA: I lost.
Q. You missed some matches because of injury.
PAULA BADOSA: Yes.
Q. Could you please tell us about your fitness and confidence level, please.
PAULA BADOSA: For your information, I just lost. I didn’t win. So, yeah.
THE MODERATOR: She didn’t win.
Q. Not win?
PAULA BADOSA: No.
This was not the first time
Strangely enough, this was not the first time that a journalist congratulated a player after he or she lost. Back in 2014, a reporter at Roland Garros congratulated Nicolas Mahut for winning after he lost to Mikhail Kukushkin. As per the following video, Mahut was rather upset for the gaffe.

LWWWWLWWWW Ranked no.35, the Spaniard played her last match on the 7th of July when she had to retire when playing against world no.36 Marta Kostyuk in the 2nd round and the scoreline was 6-2 1-0 .
At the moment, during this season Badosa owns a compiled 18-9 match record. Paula Badosa’s most significant achievement of this season was reaching the semifinal in Adelaide.
