Bacsinszky wins the title in Acapulco!

What a great story from Timea Bacsinszky!

The Swiss was out of the tour for years after struggling with a series of injuries to finally get back and now win her first title since 2009 (Luxembourg).

The final against Caroline Garcia was incredibly smooth for Timea that after being 4-3 up in the opener she was 8 consecutive games to finally conquer the match with a stunning 6-3 6-0 score-line. The final lasted just 66 minutes. Match Stats.

Timea: Maybe I am like a good wine

The Swiss was elated for this result to comment “Maybe I’m like a good wine – with time, I’m better!” Bacsinszky joked to the press afterwards.

“But seriously, I almost stopped playing in 2013. When I decided to play again, at the French Open in 2013, I got a new team around me – new coach, new fitness coach, I’ve been working a lot with Swiss tennis. The road was long, and it’ll still be long, but I’ve been working hard. I wasn’t just expecting the results to come right away, I was patient. I knew I needed time to build everything up. I’m really proud. And knowing what I’ve been through, I’m even prouder.”

Timea will stay in Mexico as she will play the tournament in Monterrey just ahead Indian Wells.
