Tough luck for Maria Sharapova that had to retire from Acapulco because of a stomach virus. Maria was already struggling in the quarters when she dropped the second set against Rybarikova. After that match she said that she was affected by her illness.
Unfortunately Maria was not fit to play the semifinal against Caroline Garcia to say “I’m really sorry to have to withdraw from the tournament. I had a great start to the event and was hoping I could recover in time for tonight’s match but unfortunately it was not enough time,”
Caroline will play Timea Bacsinszky in the final. This will be the first match between these two.
