No huge problems for Maria Sharapova in her first match in Acapulco against Shelby Rogers.
Seeded no.1, the Russian Beauty had a little bit of struggle just at the very beginning to lose her service in the opening game. Maria was then facing a 0-2 deficit to find her tennis and finally win 6-4 6-1. Match Stats.

Maria commented “I’ve been in many different situations in my career, and when you’re down, you have to change a few things and stay positive, You just have to concentrate on one point at a time instead of the bigger result, and as the match went on I definitely felt more and more comfortable out there. I felt really good and really happy to perform here in front of all the fans for the first time.”
In the second round Maria will play either world no. 149 Louisa Chirico or world no. 139 Mariana Duque-Marino.
