Ion Tiriac, a former owner of the Mutua Madrid Open and a billionaire, is pessimistic about Simona Halep’s prospects in the world of professional tennis given that her doping case is still pending.

Since last year, Simona Halep has not played tennis because of the doping investigation that was started when she tested positive for a prohibited substance. This year, irregularities in her biological passport added a new charge to her case, decreasing the likelihood of her return even further.

The Romanian complained about the procedure in a number of statements since the time she lost was valuable and could not be recovered.

As reported by Romanian publication AS, Ion commented: “In my opinion, they have finished Simona’s career, and someone has to answer here. How much can Simona ask for? 100 million, 200? Who is the culprit? Someone, however, is guilty, but it is sad what is happening to Simona. I don’t compare it to the fact that we are Romanians or I don’t know what. When someone slaps you, if you don’t slap them back – my father taught me 80 years ago – it means you’re a servant and only on your knees.”
