Iga Swiatek retires from Bad Homburg causing concern for fans.

Iga Swiatek the seed number one and the hot favorite to win Wimbledon. However the world no.1 is giving a big scare to her fans after retiring from Bad Homburg conceding at work over to Lucia Bronzetti.

Iga released the following statement:

“I’m so sorry but I have to pull out of my match today. I had a restless night because of some fever and possible food poisoning. I’m not able to perform today and I need to take care of myself. I hope I’ll be fine soon. Your support in Bad Homburg was amazing, thank you.”

Now the world no.1, Swiatek owns a compiled 38-6 win-loss record in 2023. The Pole is now playing in Bad Homburg where she conquered the world no.58 Tatjana Maria 5-7 6-2 6-0, the world no.129 Jil Teichmann 6-3 6-1 and the world no.39 Anna Blinkova 6-3 6-2.

Iga Swiatek will face the world no.33 Lin Zhu in the 1st round. In the past, they have never played each other so far on the main tour.

Swiatek has won 3 titles in 2023 in Doha, Stuttgart and French Open. Swiatek was the finalist in Dubai (Dubai Duty Free Championships) and in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open).
