On Wednesday, Simona Halep finally attended her first doping hearing in court. The former World No. 1 will find out her destiny in the coming weeks. Halep hasn’t competed since the US Open in 2022. After the competition, she underwent nose surgery, and it was soon revealed that she tested positive for the illicit drug Roxadustat.
Since then, Halep has fought to establish her innocence, with the majority of those who know her personally standing by her side. However, after having her hearings continually delayed, she criticized the ITIA, but also violated for a second time due to errors discovered in her biological passport. Halep has consistently defended her innocence and frequently expressed her feelings of unfairness.
