John McEnroe opposes tennis's partnership with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), while Nick Kyrgios and Carlos Alcaraz may consider playing in the country.

John McEnroe, a former world No. 1, does not want tennis to partner with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, while Nick Kyrgios wants to be “signed up” and Carlos Alcaraz may see himself playing in Saudi Arabia in the future (PIF). Tennis appears likely to benefit from financing from the Middle Eastern government just after the Professional Golf Association (PGA) announced that they would combine with the LIV Golf organization, which is financed by Saudi Arabia.

It was reported earlier this week that PIF and other prospective investors had “constructive” discussions with ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi. Although it is unclear whether a deal will be reached, 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Kyrgios made it clear that he would be happy to sign any agreement with PIF because it would mean receiving more money.

Talking with ESPN: “It looked to me like the PGA were total hypocrites when they cut a deal after they’ve been fighting them, in my opinionAt the same time the people that are complaining about it, a lot of the people are hypocrites because our government does business with things along with tons of other hedge funds, wealth funds, down the list, people that have dealings.”
