After the pair’s intense third-round match at Wimbledon last year, Stefanos Tsitsipas’ “misinterpreted” statements were taken as racist by some on social media. Nick Kyrgios has backed the Greek.
On the Netflix documentary series “Break Point,” Tsitsipas claimed that Kyrgios approached tennis with an “uneducated” mindset and brought a “NBA basketball attitude” to the game. These remarks subsequently received a lot of negative feedback online.
The Greek world No. 5 insisted, though, that his remarks had been misunderstood in a lengthy explanation that he put on his Facebook page on Friday.
Kyrgios took to Twitter on Saturday, saying: “It was a very heated battle. Sometimes, as players, we go into these press conferences without digesting the match. We’ve had some crazy battles, and I know deep down you like my brand of tennis. We are all good.”

Ranked no.5, Stefanos played his last match on the 21st of June when he was overcome by world no.28 Nicolas Jarry 7-6(7) 7-5 in the 2nd round in Halle (draw).

Nick Kyrgios in 2023
Currently the world no.31, Nick played his last match on the 13th of June when he was defeated by world no.59 Yibing Wu 7-5 6-3 in the 1st round in Stuttgart (draw).
This season Kyrgios has achieved a composed 0-1 match record.
He is also scheduled to play in Wimbledon (Wimbledon) on the 3rd of July and Washington (Citi Open) on the 31st of July.
