Wawrinka survives, Dimitrov crashes in Rotterdam

Stan Wawrinka and Grigor Dimitrov had 2 tough matches in Rotterdam: Stan won, Grigor didn’t.

Stan played home favorite and world no. 248 Jesse Huta Galun to find himself battling in an unexpected 3rd set. Stan won the 1st set 6-3, to completely disappear in the beginning of the 2nd (0-4). Finally the Swiss lost the 2nd set to find his way in the decider.

Wawrinka won 6-3 3-6 6-3 scoring just 1 point more than Jesse.  (match stasts)

Stan commented “It was a tough one. It’s never easy. You need to adapt to the conditions. It was an up and down match. I didn’t play my best game, but it’s good to win and get one more chance to play better tomorrow.”

Dimitrov

Another day of misery for Grigor Dimitrov that cannot follow his ambitions. Grigor was expected to have a good tournament in Rotterdam to finally crash out in straight sets against world no.37 Gilles Muller (3rd round).

Grigor played a horrible opener (lost 6-2) to recover in the 2nd set, but Muller hold tough to win the tiebreak and the match 6-2 7-6 (8). Match Stats.

Muller will play the winner between Wawrinka and Garcia-Lopez. Dimitrov will head to Acapulco where he will try to defend his title.
