Roger Federer reaches the semifinal in Dubai after winning a tough battle against the world no.35 Marton Fucsovic.
The match
Roger and Marton went toe to toe for the entire first set until they got to the breaker. At that point, Federer was in deep waters when he faced 2 consecutive set points while he was 4-6 down. However, the Maestro is used to this kind of situations, and eventually he conquered the following 4 points to win the breaker at 6.
Roger looked to be firmly in the driver’s seat in the second set after he broke Fucsovic in the very first game. However, the Hungarian did strike back, and he broke Federer back in the 4th game (2-2). After 4 consecutive holds, Roger managed to win the decisive break in the 9th game (5-4 and a very long one). Finally, the Maestro held his serve in the last game recovering from a 0-30 deficit to win the match 7-6 (6) 6-4 in 1 hour and 56 minutes. Federer won just 2 points more than Fucsovic (82 vs. 80).

Roger acknowledged that they were playing in tricky conditions to comment
“I’m very happy to have found a way to the semis. It was a good level of play considering all the difficulties that were on the court today.”
The semifinal vs. Coric
Roger will face Borna Coric for a place in the final. The H2H is 2-all, but Coric defeated Federer in their last 2 matches.
