Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Andreas Seppi will fight for their first title of the year in Zagreb.
Garcia-Lopez
Guillermo had a relatively easy match against a tired Marcos Baghdatis to win in straight sets (6-4 6-4) in 97 minutes.
Guillermo commented “I am really happy to be in the final. I didn’t start well. I was a bit nervous. Then I started to play much better with good rallies from the baseline. He made a few mistakes with his forehand which is not his best shot. I was able to break him twice at 4-4 (in both sets). I look forward to being in the final tomorrow.”
Seppi
Andreas had to battle in the first set against Marcel Granollers to recover from a break down. Than the Spaniard disappeared in the second set to hand the match to the Italian. The final result was 7-6 (5) 6-1.
Andreas commented “It was not an easy match. was a break down in the first set. We were both tight but then I managed to play much better in the second set. It is never easy to play a tie-break but I served really well. I was able to break immediately at the beginning of the second set and I tried to be more aggressive with my forehand. Winning in two sets is good for my confidence.”
Ranked no.40 Andreas is having a great season so far after reaching the semi in Doha, the 4th round in Melbourne and now the final in Zagreb.
Head to head
Seppi leads Garcia-Lopez 5-0. The Italian is the favorite for the title. It would be the 4th of his career.
