Kyrgios wins a memorable match against Nadal in Acapulco

Nick defeats Rafa after a 3 hours' match

Nick Kyrgios wins an absolutely insane match against Rafael Nadal after a battle that lasted 3 hours.

The match

Nick started extremely poorly in a horrible mood. The Australian looked lethargic from the very beginning, and he was complaining about every sort of injury, condition, etc. Nick looked close to certain “death” after he was broken in the 6th game (4-2) and Rafa sealed the deal with a comfortable 6-3. In the process, the Australian called the trainers, and he stated that he was feeling so bad that he wanted to stay on court only “because of the media.”

The Australian managed to stay with Rafa for the entire 2nd set especially thanks to his great serve. However, the Kyrgios really looked dialed in during the breaker of the second set as he conceded just 2 points to the world no.2 to bring the affair to the decider.

During the 3rd set, Nick showed a much-improved focus and form. The key moment was the 7th game when Kyrgios saved 5 break points (3 of them came when the Australian was 0-40 down).

Eventually, everything went down to the final breaker that Kyrgios won after recovering from a desperate 3-6 deficit conquering 5 consecutive points. The final result was 3-6 7-6 (2) 7-6 (5), and the match ended after 3 hours and 3 minutes with a very cold handshake from Nadal.
