
Carlos Alcaraz and Matteo Berrettini were meant to clash in the third round of the upcoming ATP 500 tournament that will be staged at the prestigious Queens Club in London next week. Unfortunately, that will not happen since the Italian player had to withdraw from the competition. Matteo was not able to play the entire clay-court season after struggling with oblique. He tried to come back in Stuttgart, but he was blown away by his friend Lorenzo Sonego in the first round, losing 6-1, 6-2. The condition was not there.
Lucky loser JJ Wolf will replace Berrettini in the draw.

At the moment ranked no.2, Carlos played his last match on the 9th of June when he lost to world no.1 Novak Djokovic 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 in the semifinal of the French Open (draw).
Currently, during this year the Spaniard achieved a compiled 35-4 record. The Spaniard clinched 4 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona and Madrid. Carlos was the finalist in Rio de Janeiro.

Currently ranked no.21, Matteo played his last match on the 12th of June when he lost to world no.41 Lorenzo Sonego 6-1 6-2 in the 1st round in Stuttgart (draw).
At present, during this year Berrettini achieved an overall 9-8 match record. Matteo Berrettini’s most significant result of this year was reaching the final in Australia.
He is also scheduled to play in Wimbledon (Wimbledon). The main draw will start on the 3rd of July.
