Serena: I had to vomit to win the Australian Open

That was gross, but definitely effective.

Serena Williams struggled a lot in the second week of the Australian Open because of a nasty cold. Serena has been caught many times battling with her cough even during on-court interviews and we were even worried she couldn’t make it for the final.

The world no.1 didn’t look well during the final against Maria Sharapova to immediately leave the court soon after a rain delay was called. Once back on court Serena had to suddenly get back to the tunnel because of a coughing fit. Back again on court she really looked bad (than of course she fired 1 ace and a powerful forehand as soon as the game resumed… superhuman things!),

I had to vomit

Serena disclosed what happened during the rain delay “I’ve got a really bad cold. Usually you stay in bed, you don’t play matches and practice every day. I ended up throwing up. I think that helped when I got everything out of me and cleared my chest out because I couldn’t breathe a little bit.”

Nasty, but it worked well!
