Stefanos Tsitsipas wins his second career title in Marseille confirming his improvements after the great run he had at the Australian Open when he reached the semifinal and the successes in Stockholm and Milan on the occasion of the #nextgen Final.
The final in Marseille
In the last act of thisΒ ATP250, Stefanos was opposed to the world no.50 Mikhail Kukushkin that had a fantastic run to get to the final without dropping a single set. In addition, Mikhail was well-known for being a strong opponent on indoor courts.
The first set was decided only in the very last game (the 12th) when Tsitsipas finally managed to conquer a break.
In the second set, things got tricky for the Greek when out of the blue he lost his serve in the 5th game (2-3). However, Kukushkin failed to serve out the set when he was leading 5-4, and the affair went to the breaker that Tsitsipas won at 5 after winning just 1 mini-break.
The final score was 7-5 7-6 (5), and the match ended after 1 hour and 59 minutes.
After this week, Stefanos will be ranked no.11 and his dream/target to break in the top10 is getting closer and closer!
