The All England Club is happy to announce that The Championships 2023 will have a record prize money of £44,700,000. This year’s prize money for tennis competitions represents an increase of 17.1% from the pre-pandemic Championships in 2019 and an increase of 11.2% from 2022.
The winners and runners-up in the Men’s and Women’s Singles competitions will get £2,350,000 and £1,175,000, respectively, with the prize money for these two rounds increasing to the levels from the previous year.
The Qualifying Competition
Supporting competitors throughout the qualifying rounds of the competition is still valued in the prize money distribution. The prize pool for the qualifying competition has increased by 14.5% over last year, and the amount awarded to Main Draw Singles losers in the first round has increased by 10% from 2022 to £55,000.
The prize money for the Men’s and Women’s Doubles is up 10.7% from the previous year, while it increased by slightly under 20% for the Wheelchair and Quad Wheelchair Singles and Doubles competitions.
This is the overall prize money.
Novak Djokovic in 2023
Currently ranked no.1, Novak played his last match on the 11th of June when he defeated world no.4 Casper Ruud 7-6(1) 6-3 7-5 in the final of the French Open to win his 94th career title.
This year Djokovic has managed to achieve a 27-4 win-loss record. The Serbian has won 3 titles in 2023 in Adelaide, Australian Open and French Open.
Djokovic is scheduled to play next at the Wimbledon (Wimbledon). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 3rd of July.
Carlos Alcaraz in 2023
At the moment ranked no.2, the Spaniard played his last match on the 9th of June when he was defeated by world no.1 Novak Djokovic 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 in the semifinal of the French Open (draw).
Until now, during this year Alcaraz achieved a 35-4 win-loss record. Alcaraz has won 4 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona and Madrid. The Spaniard reached the final in Rio de Janeiro.
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz squared off only on 2 occasions. Their current record is 1-1. The last time they locked horns, Novak Djokovic won 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 in the semifinal in Paris (French Open) on the 9th of June 2023.
