Djokovic, Murray preview and prediction

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will fight for the 2015 Australian Open title. They have played each other 23 times. Head to head is 15-8 for Nole (4-2 for the Serb in slams).

Djokovic

Nole had a great run to the final. The Serb didn’t lose a single set till the semifinal to display an inch perfect tennis. Djokovic’s game went a bit south later in the final 4 against Wawrinka, but once again he showed his amazing fighting spirit that will be a great asset in the final.

Novak Djokovic's matches in Melbourne

Djokovic has already won 7 slams (4 Australian Open, 2 Wimbledon and 1 US Open). Details

Nole doesn’t think that there is a clear favorite in this final “There are not many predictable scenarios in our matchup. I think we know each other pretty well. We practise a lot. We play many matches against each other on different surfaces, especially in this arena a few times in the final. I’m sure we both know what to expect from each other’s game. The fact that I won last seven out of eight matches, of course it’s going to serve as a great confidence booster coming into the match.

There’s no clear favourite. I think the way he’s been playing, he already knows what it takes to win a Grand Slam title. On the other hand, I’m going to try to use also my own experience and of course motivation to eventually get my hands on the title as well.”

Murray

Andy had a solid run in this Australian Open. The highlights of his tournament so far are his win against a tough Grigor Dimitrov in the 4th round (6-4 6-7(5) 6-3 7-5), a good performance in the quarter against Nick Kyrgios (6-3 7-6 (5) 6-3) and a tense win in the semi against Tomas Berdych (6-7 (6) 6-0 6-3 7-5).

Andy Murray's matches in Melbourne

Andy has won 2 slam (Wimbledon and the US Open) and he has already played (and lost) 3 finals in Melbourne (2010 vs. Federer, 2011 and 2013 both vs. Djokovic). Details

Andy doesn’t think he is the favorite “I know it’s going to be extremely difficult to win the match tomorrow. I know if I want to win, it will probably be very, very tough and challenging physically. So I need to prepare myself mentally for that.

He has a fantastic record here. He obviously loves the court and the conditions. It would be a big upset if I manage to win tomorrow.”

Prediction: Djokovic is the clear favorite, but we see him winning in 5. Murray is playing his best tennis, but eventually the world no.1 will find a way to win this match.
