Simona Halep dreaming of being no.1

Simona Halep didn’t have a smashing start of her 2019. The world no.2 lost the top spot of the rankings at the hands of Naomi Osaka and she has “only” an 8-4 win-loss record.

Nevertheless, things look much better for the Romanian that has recovered from the nasty back injury that has sidelined her for the end of last season and Simona is playing rather good tennis.

Halep reached the final in Doha and the quarters in Dubai where she lost to a revived Belinda Bencic.

Why Halep is happy and she aims at taking back the world no.1 from Osaka

Soon after losing to the Swiss, Simona explained why she was still satisfied with her performance in the Middle East to comment

“The body felt that it’s tired. Even if I was not giving up, I felt like I don’t have enough to win. but I played till the end. I tried just to stay there no matter the result.

It’s second month of the year, so it’s okay. It’s good, to be No. 2 in the world, it’s not bad. I’m enjoying the moment. I’m going to dream for the No.1.”
