According to his office, Brazilian tennis star Thiago Seyboth Wild appeared in court in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday to address accusations of domestic abuse against his ex-girlfriend Thayane Lima.

The 23-year-old “traveled directly to Rio de Janeiro to appear in court” on Monday after finishing his run in the French Open, according to his office.

Thayane Lima, Seyboth Wild’s ex-girlfriend, has charged him with using physical and psychological abuse. A large number of the allegations were made public on social media by Lima, an influencer with 1.2 million Instagram followers, and were widely reported in the Brazilian news.

During a recent press conference at the French Open, Seyboth Wild, who is ranked 172 globally, rejected a question regarding the court case.

According to his office, Seyboth Wild has accused Lima of extortion and filed a civil complaint against her for some of her social media statements. He has also denounced Lima to the police. The statement claims that the athlete’s defense will establish his innocence.
