Stefanos Tsitsipas says that melatonin and nap the cause of his loss to Alcaraz at the French Open

Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed that he was not very happy with his pre-match routine

Stefanos Tsitsipas lost a quite tough and also humiliating quarterfinal against Carlos Alcaraz. The Spanish sensation demolished him for the entire match with the exception of the very end of the third set when Carlitos lost his focus. The final score was 6-2 6-1 7-6(5).

Soon after the match, Stefanos Tsitsipas said the use of melatonin and a nap caused him to be so sluggish during the match. “One thing that I’m going to try to avoid in the future is (having) melatonin pills and naps before matches,” Tsitsipas commented, “because it clearly doesn’t seem to be working.”

Then he added:

“Schedule has been a little bit difficult the last few days. I had some late-night sessions. Not super late, but late enough for me to kind of have my sleep schedule ruined, in a way.

Sleep is a very vital, important thing, and recovery is the most important thing when competing and playing big Slams like this.”
